Ways of Giving

Brighton College Front Left Quad

Single Gift

You can make a single gift by donating online. You can use the links below to donate to a specific campaign, or to make a general donation.

Alternatively, if you wish to make a donation by post, simply print and complete the donation form below, and send with your cheque payable to 'Brighton College', to:

The Development Office, Brighton College, Eastern Road, Brighton, BN2 0AL.

Regular Giving

To make a regular gift, on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, please complete the standing order on the donation form, and return to Brighton College.

Gift Aid

As a registered charity, Brighton College can reclaim tax on your donations if you complete a Gift Aid declaration, substantially increasing the value of your gift. If you pay tax at the basic rate, every £1 you give will be worth £1.25 to the College. If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax and the basic rate of tax on the total gross value of your donation. For example, a donation of £80 would be worth £100 to the College after reclaiming Gift Aid. If you pay tax at 40% you can claim tax relief of 20% of this, or £20, meaning that the total cost to you is just £60.

Major Gifts

If you are considering a major gift, there are a number of opportunities to have buildings or rooms named after you, or your family. If you would like to discuss the opportunities available, please contact the Head Master or Debra Chalmers, the Development Director, for a confidential discussion.

Other Forms of Giving

Legacies Brighton College has benefitted greatly from legacy gifts in the past, and a number of Old Brightonians have very generously pledged legacy gifts to the school. If you would like more information about the 1845 Society and leaving a legacy to Brighton College, for a particular purpose or for general funds, please contact the Development Director.

USA taxpayers can make gifts on a tax-deductible basis through BSUF, the British Schools and Universities Foundation. Checks should be made payable to the 'British Schools and Universities Foundation, Inc', expressing a preference for Brighton College, and sent to: British Schools and Universities Foundation, 575 Madison Avenue, Suite 1006 New York, NY 10022-2511. Please see http://www.bsuf.org for further information.

Gifts of shares are a particularly attractive way to give, as the donor benefits from Income Tax relief and potentially Capital Gains Tax relief too. For more information on these tax reliefs, please see the HMRC website at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/.
