Religious Studies
In the Third Form, Religious Studies is integrated into the 'Story of our Land' curriculum. The subjects studied are:
Lower Third (Year 7)
- Questions of Truth, Evidence and Knowledge: questions from Plato and Aristotle.
- Questions of Faith, Belief and Spirituality: arguments about the existence of God.
- Creation Stories from around the world: includes Hinduism, Buddhism, and Aboriginal stories.
- Judaism and the Old Testament: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
- Christianity and the New Testament: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
- Medieval Religion and belief in the afterlife: the concepts of heaven and hell, the Seven Deadly Sins and pilgrimage in the past and present.
- Islam: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
Upper Third (Year 8)
- The Diversity of Christianity: Catholics, Anglicans and Protestant denominations.
- The Enlightenment: philosophers who made a difference.
- Hinduism: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
- Buddhism: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
- Sikhism: key beliefs, festivals and celebrations.
