Cricket (Boys)

Member of staff i/c: Miss A L Walker
Cricket is the major summer sport and, like Rugby, it has enjoyed a proud tradition. In the last ten years, a number of boys and girls have progressed from school cricket to the county and international stage. Over the last 25 years, the college has established itself as one of the leading cricket schools in England; now under the guidance of ECB Level 4 qualified coach, Alexia Walker.
Much of the recent success comes as the result of a dynamic relationship with Sussex County Cricket Club and its Academy; a flexible system is in place which allows those players on the Academy to train down at the county ground at Hove for one games' afternoon a week throughout the year.
However, as is the philosophy for every sport at Brighton College, the emphasis is always on enjoyment and improvement, regardless of level. Eight cricket teams are fielded each Saturday with a broad fixture list of schools including Eton, Dulwich, Harrow, and Whitgift. The 1st XI play in the National and Sussex Schools 20/20 cup and attend the BOWS cricket festival which involves Brighton, Oakham, Wellington and Sedbergh in the first week of the summer holidays.
