Art & Photography

Our Art and Photography Department at Brighton College is recognised as a dynamic and highly creative centre of learning in which young minds flourish.

In recent years we were awarded The Good School's Certificate for the best A level grades in Art and Photography in the U.K. A very high percentage of recent past pupils have gained 100% at GCSE, with fifteen of our GCSE Art pupils in 2007 and 2008 coming in the top ten in England. In 2011 all eighteen A level pupils gained A or A* grade in Art or Photography.

Twenty four Art and Photography pupils work at GCSE and A level were selected by the examination board in 2011 as "exemplars" and will be included a National Touring Exhibition this year. Pupils study in our caring environment knowing that their endeavours will be encouraged and their ideas respected.

Our departmental motto "Abeunt Studia in Mores" (Studies Pass Into the Character) and "Without ideas what do we have?" encapsulates this approach.

Thirty four A level Art and Photography pupils since 2007 are currently pursuing Art at Art College or University. Six pupils are studying Art History and seven pupils Architecture also since 2007.
