Over 1,000 pupils and staff from the College's two schools gathered in respectful silence on the morning of Friday 9 November for our annual Remembrance Ceremony. Years 2-8 from the Prep and Pre-Prep joined the College community for the Act of Remembrance, their voices loudly singing "Abide with Me" and then falling mute for the two minutes' silence. The Head Masters of the two schools and the CCF Contingent Commander laid wreaths before the 'field altar' of drums, before bugler Tom Stone (Hampden, Lower Sixth ) played the Last Post to lead us into our prayers of gratitude.
Two days later, Sunday's Remembrance Service included the Act of Remembrance and offered reflections on Armistice, which occurred exactly one hundred years ago - to the very hour.
"Let us remember before God, and commend to His sure keeping, those who have died in war; those who attended this College and those whose memory we treasure; and all who have lived and died in the service of humanity."
