Year 4 enjoyed the best of British summertime; they spent a beautiful day fruit picking in the Kent countryside as part of their HEALTH lesson. After a long coach journey of twisting country lanes, they arrived in the picturesque village of Goudhurst and Lower Ladysden PYO farm. Pupils were welcomed with jugs of chilled squash and cookies and a run around the fields before embarking on a look around the farm.
Farmer Steven shared some of his expertise with the pupils as he toured them around fields of asparagus, pumpkins, and sunflowers. The highlight of the day was, of course, picking strawberries, every pupil filled their punnet to overflowing, whilst filling their tummies to bursting en route. After a picnic lunch pupils had the opportunity to plant their very own strawberry plant to take home and nurture.
