GCSE Drama Pupils Draw Moderators Praise

05/03

Upper Fifth GCSE Drama pupils performed last week to appreciative audiences in two pieces, one staged in the Montague Studio, the other in the Library.

Simon Stephens' Punk Rock is actually set in a library, and the college library, with its upper gallery, made an atmospheric and intimate venue for this story of teenage students' adroitly ribald banter and clumsy sexual intrigue. After this, the audience decamped to Montague for the first act of Ayckbourn's My Sister Sadie, a comic piece loosely based around the Frankenstein story. The examining board visiting moderator was highly impressed with the range and skill in the work, commenting on how well the pupils functioned as an ensemble. She also praised the fine detail in their performances.
