Art

Children at the Pre-Prep experience the joys and possibilities of drawing, painting, pattern making, modelling and many other creative activities. They develop the ability and confidence to work with a wide variety of materials and techniques.  We believe that they are never too young to know a Whistler from a Warhol and they are introduced to strategies for making judgements and responding appropriately to both their own work and the work of others.  Our children ‘do’ art for the exploration, and experimentation, they discover mystery and creativity and most of all, they have lots of fun!

Music

If you’re looking for a little razzmatazz, rhythm and jazz-shwing, sing, ring-a-ding then shake your body and wobble your vibrato towards Brighton College Pre-Prep School!  From Pre-Reception, children learn to recognise notes in a fun and memorable way.  This is then developed in Reception when children learn to sing and play written patterns of notes.

In Year One they learn to add musical qualities to their performance: changing speed, dynamics and characterisation.  Year Two learn the letter names of the notes and begin to read and play pitch.  In Year Three this is encouraged into fluid and musical performance.  With the opportunity to learn how to play the violin, viola, cello, guitar and trumpet, alongside the recorder, the Pre-Prep offers truly EXCEPTIONAL standards in music making.
