The Foundation Stage
The first two years of education, that is Pre-Reception and Reception, are called the Foundation Stage. The Foundation Stage prepares children for learning in Key Stage 1 and is consistent with the National Curriculum. The Foundation Stage Curriculum consists of six areas of learning: Personal, Social, Emotional Development; Communication, Language and Literacy; Mathematical Development; Knowledge and Understanding of the World; Physical Development; Creative Development.
We have two Pre-Reception classes, each of 16 children taken by two qualified teachers and two qualified assistants. Pre-Reception has an open-plan environment with a separate outdoor play area. Following this we have two Reception classes, each of 20 children, taught by two qualified teachers and two full-time qualified assistants. Reception have two classrooms, a shared activity room and separate outdoor play area.
