RE and PSHE
Religious Education
All children in the Pre-Prep gain an insight into Christianity and other world religions. Christianity is taught through Bible stories, class assemblies, and weekly assemblies by the school chaplain. As you can see, our beautiful school chapel is used for visits and services throughout the year. We hold Easter, Harvest and Christmas services. We aim for the children to become reflective and feel that they can safely ask thought provoking questions as well as learning respect for and understanding of all religions.
Personal, Social and Health Education
Personal, Social and Health Education aims to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to lead confident, healthy and independant lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens. We consider social and moral dilemmas, right and wrong behaviour including bullying. PSHE is taught through circle time and other subjects. Morning assemblies are also used to reinforce school rules and acceptable behaviour. We have a weekly award assembly where children are given stickers for effort, kindness, good manners etc. which builds confidence and a positive feeling about themselves. Regular individual target setting allows our children to recognise their strengths and weaknesses and make simple choices. Children sit together and discuss their thoughts and feelings and share responsibilities in a respectful atmosphere.
