Nursery

Our Nursery provides a warm, happy and constructive introduction to education for 3 and 4 year olds, in a safe environment whilst embracing the life of the whole school.  Nursery has its own entrance to the building and is divided into two activity rooms plus an outside play area.  Children are divided into 2 groups of approximately 18 in each, each with a qualified teacher in charge, supported by a qualified assistant.  We strongly recommend children stay a minimum of 5 mornings each week, as each morning has a particular curriculum focus.

The educational focus is on structured play but includes first steps in reading, writing, numeracy and ICT, as well as laying the basic foundations for other areas of learning.  In this way Nursery plays a vital part in preparing girls and boys for the schooling to come.  Parents can choose the afternoon times to suit themselves: morning only until 12.15 including lunch, or a full day until 3.30 pm, or a combination of mornings and full days.

Children may join the Nursery Class in the Michaelmas Term following their 3rd birthday.
