Competitions
Working HardThe Work Cup
The children are graded on the effort they make and they earn house points. House points are also awarded outside of lessons for helpfulness and other acts of selflessness.
The house point totals are added and go toward the ’Work Cup’. Each term the houses are awarded points for their progress in this competition. At the end of the Michaelmas Term the positions were: 1st St. David’s; 2nd St. George’s; 3rd equal St. Andrew's and St. Patrick's.
The Activities Cup
The children compete in a vast number of activities, from rugby to drama, shooting or orienteering. The number of competitions seems to grow each year. The children compete in a fierce but friendly way. No quarter is given during the competition but afterwards the winners are congratulated and the losers commended for their spirit. Many of the competitions are inclusive, allowing every child in a year group to take part.
Points are awarded for progress in these competitions and the house with the most points is awarded the Activities Cup. In February 2008 the positions are: 1st St. George's; 2nd St. David's; 3rd St. Andrew's; 4th St. Patrick's. A handful of points separates the top three and this promises to be an exciting competition.
