French

We, at Brighton College Prep School, want pupils to enjoy learning French and
to reach high standard of competence in all four skill areas. Pupils begin their
French studies at the Prep school in Year 4 and are taught by a specialist
member of staff. They are introduced to all four skills, but gradually write
more as they move through the school.

Years 7 and 8 see children preparing for Common Entrance but it is not all
just hard work in the classroom. Year 7 pupils stay in France and practise using
the language at Le Chateau de la Baudonniere, in Normandy. They take part in a
huge range of activities with all instructions given in French.

Le Château de la Baudonniere - Year 7 Residential Trip to Normandy

Year 7 returned in April from France along with their teachers. We had a fantastic stay at the Château de la Baudonniére in Normandy and enjoyed great weather for this time of the year. All pupils had a wonderful time practising their French in many different activities; they got caked in mud in the assault course, conquered fears climbing walls and abselling down, became bakers as they made and ate their own bread, discovered a great new sport called aéroballe ( a combination of trampolining, volley ball and basket ball), took part in archery, canoeing,  a French lesson, orienteering and bowling. They ate snails and enjoyed shopping at a local market. They also visited the Mont St Michel. A great time was had by all and I am sure it will be a trip they will remember fondly for years to come.

 C'était fantastique au Château!
