30/01/12

The U12A produced scintillating netball to win the SISNA NETBALL TOURNAMENT in comprehensive fashion. The team started the afternoon brightly with a good 5-2 win against a tough Westbourne side. In the next two matches, Sion and Hurstpierpoint College were swept aside in decisive fashion 9-0 and 9-2. Against Brighton and Hove High School, the team faltered a little but regained composure in the second half to eventually win 5-2. The girls got through to the semi-finals and were excited by the prospect of a tough match against Cumnor House. Nerves got the better of both teams in a very tight match but the girls eventually took control of the game and won 5-3. In the final, the team rose to the occasion and played excellent netball to once again beat Westbourne House 6-2. Throughout the tournament, Lara Main Wilson and Leah Clarke moved effortlessly around the court, making good use of the court space and passing with accuracy. Gracie Marshall and Fran Seabourne have great understanding of each other's game and played the ball in and around the circle with ease. Katherine Longhurst, who has just come back from an injury, played her part and shot with increasing confidence. Alice Hart was always poised to scoop up any loose ball and took some lovely interceptions for the team. Fay Brittain played her own controlled game brilliantly, to put pressure on her opposing player and Elia Bach marked with determination. Eleanor Thomas was sensational in the final two games, breaking down the opposition's play with great interceptions and diligent marking. This was a magnificent performance from the whole squad and one which they should be very proud of indeed. Well done girls!
