Science

Using quadrats at Hope Gap

We feel passionate about Science at Brighton College and we want to excite and stimulate the interest of the Prep School pupils in all areas of the curriculum. We try to include as much practical work as possible, as it is through a ‘hands on’ approach that we can help to satisfy the pupils’ curiosity of the world around them. We teach pupils to become more independent when carrying out investigations and to share their ideas using a wide range of scientific language. The use of models to represent things they cannot experience practically enables them to try and make sense of scientific phenomena, to find explanations and to question how scientific issues can affect their own lives and the future of the world.

Above all we want children in the Prep School to enjoy Science. It is such an exciting subject to teach as well as to learn and we hope that we can engage the curiosity of children at a relatively early age and hopefully stimulate an interest in the world about them for the rest of their lives.
