DT Clubs
Workshop Skills
This club gives you a chance to try out all that exciting looking workshop equipment that you see the sixth formers using. Every week will involve trying a different new skill and learning how to use the equipment in the workshops safely. At the end of the term you will be presented with a workshop safety certificate, allowing you to use the school facilities to work on projects of your own.
Jewellery Club
The making of jewellery is a fascinating subject that links well with the skills learnt in 3D Design and DT. This activity slot gives you a chance to learn the specific skills required for jewellery making and helps you to think imaginatively in terms of the pieces that you make. You will be designing and making fantastic individual jewellery in metals, plastics and woods. This club is open to everyone and will give you the chance to try new and interesting manufacturing techniques.
Engineers Club
Do you enjoy DT but want to find out more about the world of Engineering? This activity is a very hands on and will involve the learning of advanced metalworking skills whilst making a project of your choice. You might want to work as a group on your project or to take on the challenge yourself - either would be acceptable.
Home Craft Club
This is a new activity and can be pretty much what you want it to be! It is for those who wish to be ‘arty' and ‘creative' but in a new way. Bring in scraps of leftover material, other items or choose some from my College stores. You could make a pin board or decorate something shop bought to personalise it such as a photo frame or jewellery box. There are lots of ‘shabby chic' bags, cushions, and other handmade goodies just waiting for your special touch. Perhaps you're broke and need inspiration for Christmas or Birthday presents? More technical skills such as appliqué, patchwork, quilting and embroidery could all be attempted but you don't need to have any sewing skills at all as cutting, sticking and gluing could be the order of the day too!
