What We Try to Do.
Productions
The Department aims to produce work of the highest standard which the whole school can celebrate.
To this end, we try to programme a range of work involving a range of pupils. The production year is built around the Upper School November Musical, one or two Sixth Form plays in the Lent term and the Lower School Play near the end of June. In between these come smaller pieces, a welter of work produced by examination groups and shows brought in by visiting professional companies.
Writing
New for 2008 is the Brighton College Playwriting competition: entries must be submitted by the end of the Lent term and results will appear here in due course.
Clubs
The Department also runs two Drama clubs: one for the Fourth form, and another for Drama scholars in the Fourth and Lower Fifth
LAMDA
For pupils wishing to develop their skill with an individual teacher, LAMDA classes in acting may be taken: do have a look at the separate LAMDA pages fro more information.
Backstage
The Department is always looking for budding lighting and sound technicians. Full training and an intermittent supply of Terrys Chocolate Oranges are offered by our superb theatre technician.
