Brighton College offers up to ten music scholarships and Exhibitions each year at 13+ entry.  This can be up to 50% remission of fees and as little as free instrumental/singing tuition on two instruments.  Pupils who accept a scholarship automatically receive free tuition on two studies provided they accept lessons in school.  Scholarships are also offered to those with other skills such as sport and dance as well as music at 13+ entry.  These Millennium Scholarships also offer fee remission.  Sixth form scholarship candidates also offer music and are expected to take AS and A2 music.

A 13+ candidate for a music scholarship would be expected to audition with two studies including singing with the first study of at least grade 5 standard.  Aural and sight-reading tests are given and a short viva voce.  The audition lasts for about 30 minutes and an external adjudicator is present.  For Millennium Scholars only one study is required.  Sixth form candidates are asked to offer two studies with a minimum of grade 6 standard on their first study.

Honorary Music Scholarships are awarded to pupils who show particular talent and commitment, but did not apply for a scholarship at 13+ or 16+.  This does not attract a fee remission.

The College has an organ scholar who plays regularly for chapel services and takes rehearsals at the discretion of the Director of Music.

In 2003-04 there were 39 music scholars.
