Dance Scholarships

Dance scholarships are offered each year at 13+ entry. A scholarship can be worth up to 20% or as little as 5% remission of fees. Dance scholars take dance as an examination subject to at least GCSE level and it is expected that they will continue to study dance at AS and A level. Scholarships are also offered to those with other skills such as drama and sport as well as dance at 13+ entry. These Millennium Scholarships also offer fee remission. Sixth form candidates may also offer dance and are expected to take AS and A2 Dance.

A 13+candidate for a dance scholarship would be expected to audition with a prepared technical solo (This can be a graded examination amalgamation) and a choreographic piece based on a visual, auditory or ideational stimulus of approximately 2-3 minutes in length. Candiates are also asked to bring in a written review based on a classical or contemporary dance production and to participate in a group workshop lasting approximately twenty minutes. Auditions are attended by the Director of Dance and an External Dance Assessor.

For Millenium scholars, only a prepared solo dance is required in a style of the candidate's choice - ballet, jazz, modern or contemporary. Sixth form candidates follow the same format as 13+dance scholars.
