The Skidelsky Building

Over the summer of 2009 the old Art School was demolished to make way for the College's largest building project for 25 years.  The four-storey Skidelsky building is named after one of the school's most eminent Old Boys, now Chairman of the College Governors, Lord Skidelsky.  The new building will house a state-of-the-art Design Technology School, a new English Department, and a home for the Year 7 and Year 8 Lower School pupils, and is due for completion in the summer of 2010.

The Skidelsky Building will house fabulous, light and airy, common room space for the growing Lower School.  With its own IT facilities, its close proximity to the teaching spaces for the major departments of English, RS and Classics, the Y7 and 8 pupils will have a space to relax and enjoy their down time during the school day whilst being close to the academic action!  Close supervision from the Headmistress of the Lower School, Leah Hamblett, in the mezzanine level office will mean that the pastoral care of the pupils will be excellent as ever, and prospective new parents, in their meetings with Miss Hamblett, will get a real taste of what the Lower School will mean for their child.

"Everyone in the Design Technology department is very excited about the move into the Skidelsky building next year.  The workshops will be state of the art, with a comprehensive suite of computer controlled manufacturing equipment that will enable pupils in all years to produce inspiring and impressive practical work."

Simon Hawkes, Head of Design Technology
