Scholarships In Drama

Hordern Drama Scholarships, named after Sir Michael Hordern, OB, the distinguished Shakespearean actor, are offered each year at 13+ entry. A scholarship can be worth up to 50% or as little as 5% remission of fees.  Hordern scholars take Drama as an examination subject to at least GCSE level. Scholarships are also offered to those with other skills such as sport and dance as well as drama at 13+ entry.  These Millennium Scholarships also offer fee remission.  Sixth Form scholarship candidates may also offer drama and are expected to take AS and A2 Theatre Studies.

A 13+ candidate for a Hordern scholarship would be expected to audition with a prepared monologue (or, if auditioning with a friend, a duologue is welcome) from a published play.  There is also a group workshop lasting for about forty minutes and a short viva voce.  Auditions are attended by the Director of Drama, the First Master and the College's LAMDA teacher. For Millennium Scholars a monologue only is required.  Sixth Form candidates are expected to bring a prepared monologue as for Hordern scholars and may be required to perform and then receive subsequent direction on it.
