D of E Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a national and internationally renound qualification which the pupils at the college can take.
The award offers pupils a challenging opportunity to further themselves through practical, cultural and adventurous activities.
It is a four-Section programme with three progressive levels:
- Bronze (for those aged 14+, taking at least 6 months)
- Silver (for those aged 15+, taking at least 12 months)
- Gold (for those aged 16+, taking at least 18 months)
The Sections involve:
- Service (helping people in the community)
- Skills (covering almost any hobby, skill or interest)
- Physical Recreation (sport, dance and fitness)
- Expeditions (training for, planning and completing a journey on foot, etc.)
- Residential Project (Gold only) (a purposeful enterprise with people previously unknown to the participant)
