GCSE (Year 10 & 11)

All pupils take AQA (A) English and English Literature. The two year course comprises a coursework folder containing literary and non-literary responses, together with speaking and listening tasks. There are three examinations at the end of Year 11: English Paper 1 tests a response to media texts and asks candidates to write essays which argue, persuade or advise; Paper 2 tests responses to poetry from other cultures and asks pupils to write essays which inform, explain or describe; the Literature paper tests a response to a post-1914 novel and poetry from the AQA anthology.
