A2 - start with a bang ..... at the end of August we go down to Somerset for 3 full days [3 days plus two half days for travel] to carry out fieldwork on three projects

Geographical Skills, paper /60

The skills paper is divided into two sections;

• Section A - select 2/4  questions about YOUR investigation, 40 marks
• Section B - select one from two questions;  the examiner gives you a situation and you suggest how to carry out the investigation / present data / analyse data or whatever
  20 marks

The 90 minutes examination will be sat in January of the Upper Sixth to .allow two opportunities to sit the paper

Environmental issues which includes

• earth hazards [slopes hazards / floods / earthquakes & volcanic hazards]
• ecosystems & environments under threat
• climatic hazards - hurricanes / heat / cold / drought

Economic issues which

• population & resources
• globalisation
• development & equalities

The examination consists of 3 sets of short answer questions and an essay from both the Economic and Environmental sections.
