Aldrich

The Aldrich Crest

Aldrich is one of the five day Houses situated in a new location near the Sutherland Road entrance. In its open plan layout the site has many useful facilities such as book and sports lockers, a computer suite and air conditioning. It also has an excellent kitchen, toilet, shower and changing area as well as leather sofas, a table tennis table and two pool tables!

It is a vibrant house of 63 pupils and 7 staff. Aldrich prides itself as being an environment which fosters friendships, mutual respect and an enthusiasm for life.  Every Aldrichian is encouraged to work hard, participate in a broad range of activities and develop a sensitive awareness of others in the world. Aldrich is an extremely proactive House in initiating events and raising money for charitable causes.

G. Hart

House Staff

The Housemaster is Mr Graham Hart
He is in his seventh year of housemastering after joining the college as a Mathematics teacher. He is a keen sports coach overseeing the U14A Cricket, U15A Girls Hockey and U15C Football teams. He also coordiantes the House Charity group.

He is supported by six house tutors, who have responsibilities for each of the year groups in addition to their subject teaching.

  • Mr J.Cornish, 4th Form
    Mr Cornish is a newly qualified Chemistry teacher who recently graduated from Imperial Univeristy, London. He is a keen Hockey player, having captained Imperial and he helps with the girls 1st X1.
  • Ms. E.Whipple, 4th Form
    Ms Whipple has been at Brighton College in numerous different roles, most notably as a music teacher in the Prep and the Senior School and recently as Housemistress of Seldon House. She now works part-time after the birth of her daughter, Connie in early 2009.
  • Miss.T.Acheson, Lower 5th
    Miss Acheson is an Art teacher with an adeventurous streak. Last year she was part of a group of three who drove across Africa to raise money for charity.
  • Mr. K. Pointer, Upper 5th
    Mr Pointer is a member of the Design and Technology department and a keen (and talented) Footballer.
  • Miss.A.Walker, Lower 6th
    Miss Walker joined the college in January 2010 as a Biology and Physical Education teacher. She ia an outstanding cricketer having captained the England ladies 'A' team. She is one of only three ladies level 4 coaches and she has taken on the role of Head of all Cricket within the Senor School.
  • Mr R.Cowan, Upper 6th
    Mr Cowan is a Chemistry teacher who has recently been Head of Cricket. He is also a keen Footballer and, in his heyday, he was a fine player in both sports.
