Chichester

Chichester Crest

Chichester House is a day girls’ house inconveniently situated next to the Headmaster’s Study and over the Bursary! Its location is, however, loved by the girls as most of the studies overlook the front quad and it is very much at the heart of the College. The House has grown from significantly in size since it began as a girls' house in 1999 and the noise level emitting from these quarters is proof of the vitality of its members.

House Staff

Miss Elizabeth Cody - BA (Economics) and Teacher Training at University College Dublin followed by an ADMS (Sport) at St Mary's Strawberry Hill. She is a teacher of Economics and Maths and previously Head of Girls' Games. An avid sports fan and ex-national league basketballer, she has had to adapt to coach the more sedate game of netball. During the holidays she loves nothing better than to travel around the world, though Dublin is still very much home.

Tutors

Mr John Spencer (U6th) - MA (Geography), Cambridge University. Although he is Head of Geography his main love is cricket, having been a pro for 12 years. One of the original Chichester tutors, he was instrumental in setting the tone for the House. He loves travelling around the world taking photographs - just ask his Geography sets! His taste in ties is ‘interesting' to say the least.

Mr Joe Rowing (L6th) - BSC (Hons) (Physics with Photonics, Southampton University) and PGCE (Durham) A new addition to the school, he teaches Physics and some lower school IT. With a wide range of interests from environmentalism to high octane sports, he is to be found enjoying the great outdoors when not teaching. He's looking forward to excitement and adventure both in and outside the classroom.

Mrs Nicky Davin (U5th) - BA (Hons) (English and Drama). She teaches Drama and does a great job focusing the Chichester drama queens' attention on the stage and has won over the hearts of her tutees with her weekly cake club. A runner and writer in her spare time, she even admits to being a sporty nerd!

Miss Leah Russell (U5th) - BA (Chinese Studies), Oxford University. Ask her about living in China -- or her old home in New England -- and you'll get an earful! She loves cooking, cycling, writing, and making things with her hands, but she's generally happiest when picnicking in a pretty place. She's excited to be joining the Brighton College community this year.

Miss Rebecca Percy (L5) - Deputy Director of Music - BA (Oxon) PGCE. She is a lover of all things creative and artistic, especially music and dance. She job shares with Mr Procter and expects that keeping him in line will be her most challenging this year. Apparently she is genetically destined to be a teacher.

Mr Richard Procter (L5th) - Assistant Director of Music (Part time) - B.Ed. Previously Head of Music in numerous schools and colleges around the UK. A pianist and singer, Richard had his own radio show on BBC local radio during the ‘80s. Now he spends his spare time writing musical theatre and trying to get his works performed.

Miss Emma Rees (4th) - BSc (Hons) Mathematics. As a new member of staff in the Maths department, Emma looks forward to getting to know the school with the other new girls in Chichester. Relocating from many happy years in the West Country, she likes to spend her spare time outdoors, whether exploring the countryside and coastline or supporting the local cricket team!

Head of House

Frances Gladwin is a much loved member of Brighton College and was awarded the most important position in the House for her enthusiasm, commitment and kind-hearted nature. She is always on the go and should be fitted with a tracking device as she races from the sports' field to music lessons and rehearsals and even the odd classroom.

Prefects

Lucy Harrison's lovable cackle can always be heard throughout Chichester, unless of course she is down in Montague with one of her many musical activities. This year, following her success in last year's musical, she will be busy co-writing, directing and starring in her local Ashurst Pantomine.

Shona Hull is a wonderfully talented musician with a gift for the flute and an amazing singing voice so much so that she has already performed as a soloist in a number of concerts. She is also a great dancer and is never far when help, support and volunteers and are needed.

Amy Jones is Chichester's actress in residence who can be found singing, dancing and acting all over the school. She is always smiling and her laughter in incredibly infectious. Filled with ambition and love of musical theatre, we may seen see her in a West End show.

Julie Kristjansen is very competitive by nature, both in and out of the classroom, and finds herself involved in a number of House competitions. She is always willing to help and loves to show people around on Open Days. Her creative streak is never far from the surface and she is often found doodling when not busy.

Emma Stapley was a new girl in the L6th but very soon made a big impression. She is a keen sportswoman who is full of energy in everything she does. Her ridiculous jokes and positive attitude are just two of her many traits.
