Competitions

Leconfield are currently holders of the House Cup and hope to hold onto it this year. The House is currently in the lead having won the Senior Cross-Country, been runners up in Junior Cross Country, U15 and Senior Rugby, Junior Public Speaking cometition, and the House Song (3rd). If you are commited to doing well in all areas of school life and always like to find, and rise to, a new challenge, then Leconfield is the House for you!

House Rugby Competition

The fourth form were missing some integral cogs for their team and so found this competition on the first Saturday of term pretty tough but the U15 and Senior teams both competed with great energy and success.

Sadly, both teams were pipped to the post this year; the U15 team lost in sudden death where they had to play uphill; the Seniors found it hard to hold together after the injury of their captain and Head of House, Peter Waugh in the first half of the final.

Mr Wheeler, new in role as Housemaster of Leconfield, was so impressed by the guts and determination of the boys in the face of seemingly stronger teams, that he upgraded the house facilities with toasters, microwaves and music players to reward the boys' hard work.

House Song Competition

House song

After an 11th place decision in last year's House Song, a new strategy was needed. After much practice and sporting splendid costumes bought especially for the purpose, Leconfield's rendition of Noah and the Whales' summer anthem 'Five Years Time' secured a much more respectable 3rd place, proving that it is not so much musical skill as it is enthusiasm and House spirit which counts in this popular competition.

Cross Country

Despite Teddy Truneh romping home in first place by several furlongs, the Junior teams lower order runners did not quite manage to find the resilience to win this year's competition, coming in second place overall. The Seniors, however, did secure an oerall win, despite not having as many Waughs as we might have liked.

Public Speaking

After an impressive first round performance speaking on the subject of 'Wealth in Sport', Ben Hornby, Philip Papasavvas and Harry Grocott, Leconfield went on to the final to speak on the subject of Knife Crime. Despite rivetting speaking from our team, we were just overcome by Aldrich, leaving us in the runner up position.

Still to come this year - Water Polo, Swimming, Sports Day and much much more...!
