The House Supper
One of the highlights of the year is the Seldon at Home, a time to celebrate the achievements of the House, and to enjoy an evening socialising together. We gather in the Great Hall for an evening of entertainment. Many of the girls show off their skills in drama and music and we also engage in activities involving the whole House. The secondary aim of the evening is to raise money for the House Charity. Watch this space for news of this year's extravaganza.
Seldon Chapel Services
Our Chapel Service this term is the Harvest Festival Service on Sunday October 10th at 10.30am. All pupils from the House must attend and parents and families are very welcome. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served in the PAC after the service where I hope to meet as many of you as possible. Seventeen of our House are members of the Chapel choir and it would be wonderful for all of us to share in their hard work and to hear their beautiful voices.
Seldon Charity Half-Marathon
We ran/walked/roller-bladed our third half-marathon in May 2009 and it was a huge success with a huge amount of money raised for charity. We started at Hove lagoon, headed approximately 12 miles east along the seafront, to the Marina and finished back at the lagoon utterly shattered! I hope that this event is something that the girls will want to maintain as it is superb for House spirit and for all the girls to participate in raising funds for those less fortunate than themselves - a bit of pain along the way adds to the sense of achievement!!
Charity
Each year the House Charity reps. select a charity which we adopt as a House. Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for the charity and along with ongoing events such as cake sales and tuck shops we raise money at Seldon at Home and on the fun run. Last year we raised £1,400 for the Brittle Bone Society.
