Seldon
The Williams CrestSeldon House is one of the four girl's Houses at Brighton College and lies at the heart of the College. The House has just moved to new accommodation, which has been refurbished to a high standard and provides a bright and relaxing environment for the girls. The House at the moment has 73 day pupils. A dedicated team of tutors work with the girls to ensure that they are well supported and guided through their time at Brighton College. The House has its own unique character, and operates to provide a happy, purposeful, and supportive environment for the girls in the College.
House Staff
Acting Housemistress: Mrs. Mary Cremona
Contact number - 01273 704265 or 01273 704374
Mrs Cremona has been at Brighton College for 12 years and has been a tutor in the House for almost all of that time. She was originally in Williams House before the House split in two in 2006. She will work alongside Mr. Twohig with the U6th year. Mrs Cremona is also Head of German and the Exams Officer at Brighton College.
The "tutor team"We have six tutors in Seldon, each having responsibility for one of the year groups. Each tutor is in the House at 8.20 am to register his or her tutees, and to deal with any notes from home (including "off games" notes and dental appointments amongst others). The tutors will then go to Chapel with the girls. The tutors will also be on hand for the students in "House time" on a Wednesday and will liaise with parents over issues which may arise during the school day. It is the tutor who oversees the interim process with his or her tutees, reviewing and monitoring academic progress during the year. The tutor and the Housemistress should be the first point of contact.
