Pam Martin from Hove College

Information and Communication Technology

Why study ICT?

The study of ICT provides an insight into the significance and relevance of computers, applications and communications in the work environment and everyday life.

To emphasise the link between ICT in schools and the workplace, Pam Martin from Hove College recently paid a visit to the College to engage students in some marketing exercises. This will be followed up with a visit to Hove College to look at how they can advertise their ideas over the web, as part of a web design course.

The Information Technology department is responsible for running the College computer network and providing assistance to all other computer users in the College.

The facilities are being constantly upgraded on a rolling programme, with Windows XP being the campus wide operating system. There are three dedicated ICT suites, two of these are timetabled for ICT lessons with the other one can be booked by other subjects to implement ICT into their curriculum.
