A-Level

We follow the Edexcel AS and A2 Mathematics and Further Mathematics syllabus at A-level. There are 6 modules per A-Level and no coursework. Single mathematicians usually take 3 modules in the L6th and 3 in the U6th. The top set is accelerated by taking 4 modules in the L6th which allows them to concentrate on C3 and C4 in the U6th, the two modules required to achieve an A* grade.

All teachers are happy to help any student who asks for help outside lesson time.

Further mathematicians follow a varied and interesting diet of pure, statistics, mechanics and decision modules which allows them the flexibility to choose any degree course they wish to study. They may either choose the more statistics or the more mechanics based route in the U6th. They can either count double maths as two of their A-level choices or can join an accelerated group, allowing them to take more than the usual number of A-Level subjects.

We are very proud to send at least 8 pupils on to mathematics degrees each year.
