GCSE
Pupils study the Edexcel modular GCSE course. They sit Unit 1 in Year 9, Unit 2 in Year 10 and Unit 3 in Year 11. Unit 1 is based mainly on statistics and Units 2 and 3 cover algebra, number and shape. Only Unit 2 is a non-calculator examination and there is no coursework.
All teachers are happy to help those who find it difficult outside lesson time.
The top set accelerates to such a level that they complete the content of the GCSE course by the end of Year 10, enabling them to sit the OCR Additional Mathematics examination in Year 11. This provides excellent preparation for both A-level and Further Mathematics A-Level.
