Mathematics
FractalsBrighton College Mathematics Department
Our aim in the maths department is to enable all of our pupils to experience success in their work. We aim to develop students’ curiosity, interest and enjoyment in the subject so that they can talk, think, write and illustrate mathematics with confidence. We strive to extend the ability of each and every pupil.
These aims are achieved through the teaching of non curricular material inside and outside the classroom as well as Edexcel GCSE, IGCSE AS and A2 (including double maths)
Recent mathematical activities have included attending the International Mathematics Olympiad Lecture at the Royal Society, an excellent talk by the local maths association on the breaking of the Enigma code during the Second World War at the college and students entering a code breaking competition run by the University of Southampton.
