Music

From the moment the pupils join Brighton College they are encouraged to participate in music of all styles.

Brighton College has 5 orchestras, 7 choirs, a Concert Band, Swing Band, and numerous chamber groups and rock bands. There are two musicals each year, the most recently performed being Anything Goes.  Other recent shows include the american baseball hit Damn Yankees, Bernstein's On the Town, 42nd Street and Kurt Weill's Threepenny Opera. The Choral Society participates in the Brighton Festival, singing choral works including Mozart's Mass in C Minor, Elgar's The Kingdom and in 2006 the Rutter Gloria and Feel the Spirit. The Chamber choir has sung at St George's Chapel, Windsor and recently toured to the Czech Republic. In 2007 the College gave a concert at the prestigious London venue St John's Smith Square, and has an enviable reputation for success in the National Schools Chamber Music Competition.

There is a strong academic tradition at the College, with pupils gaining places at Oxbridge to read music and as Choral and Organ Scholars.
