Prior to his speech at the Headmaster's Conference Charles Kennedy visited the new History Department in its tower with commanding views over Brighton and the sea in order to unveil a plaque and formally open it. He was greeted by the History staff and a group of pupils, one of whom, Tom Lord, presented him with a copy of our own Father Robert's slim volume on historical nicknames Fat Bald and Worthless. The former leader of the Liberal Democrats clearly appreciated his warm reception and engaged in animated conversation with pupils before moving on to lunch with the conference delegates.
