11+ Admissions timeline
Stage One: Enquiry
An enquiry to us is the first stage of the admission process, and we would be pleased to answer any questions you may have. We will take note of your contact details, send you a prospectus, and invite you to open mornings and taster days.
You might also like to arrange an individual visit, to tour the College with one of our prefects and meet the Headmaster of the Lower School. Please get in touch well in advance to arrange a visit, as our diary is often very busy.
Please note that we only have day places at 11+. If you are looking for a boarding place, please contact our sister school, Handcross Park, to enquire about their Junior Boarding House.
Stage Two: Registering
If you have been to see us and would like your child to be considered for a place, please complete the registration form and return it to us with the registration fee. Once your child is registered, they have officially expressed an interest in joining the College, and will be invited to attend our Assessment Day.
Stage Three: Assessments
The next Assessment Day is Saturday 12th January 2019. All pupils sit papers in Maths (multiple choice), English Comprehension (multiple choice), English Comprehension (with written answers and a creative writing piece), alongside a Non-Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning test (both multiple choice). We do not recommend any extra tutoring in preparation for these papers, as they are designed to look for potential rather than attainment hitherto. We naturally do all we can to make the entry assessments as friendly as possible, for children and their parents!
All children are automatically assessed for an Academic Scholarship through the papers they sit on the Assessment Day. There is the opportunity to apply for an All-Rounder Scholarship, through assessment in art, dance, drama, music, sport, or a combination of these elements. We also offer a Chess Scholarship and a Choral Scholarship to pupils who are able to show exceptional potential.
Stage Four: Admission
Pupils are offered places at the College on the basis of their performance in the entry assessments. Acceptance forms are sent out in early February, seven months prior to admission, and we ask for confirmation of acceptance, along with an acceptance deposit, within four weeks of an offer being made. Joining papers are sent out over the summer, along with an invitation to an induction day.
