Tennis is one of the major Trinity Term sports and is enjoyed by both girls and boys. The school provides tennis to a wide range of pupils, regardless of ability, with all tennis teams enjoying success on a competitive circuit. The tennis squads are coached by professional tennis coaches at Preston Tennis Club where good links have been established for many years, giving those the opportunity to Club exposure, if wished. Social tennis is also offered for those not aspiring to team tennis but wishing to keep developing and playing at various levels.
Tennis teams are fielded for each age group each Saturday giving those who have opted for squad tennis the opportunity to play against Sussex based schools and others across the South East including Epsom College, Hurstpierpoint College and Bedes. Teams are also entered into the under 15 Aegon League, under 18 and under 16 Sussex Leagues, under 15 Sussex League and County Cup Competitions at all age groups.
The tennis at the College has gone from strength to strength with some notable successes at County level in recent years. The under 15 girls held the under 15 Sussex Shield from 2014-2016, were winners of Division 1 of the Sussex Aegon League 2016 and the under 18s runners up at the County Cup Competition 2017. The boys teams have also improved immeasurably with runners up places in the under 18 Sussex League and the under 15 Sussex League in 2016. The under 18 boys currently hold the County Schools Shield with an outstanding performance against the top tennis schools in Sussex, to take the title.
The College has an excellent relationship with local professional coaches and clubs and offers flexible arrangements to support pupils who want to progress their tennis at any level from elite to beginner within their academic requirements.
