The College’s art department has seen unprecedented numbers of pupils heading off to art school after A-levels.
Of the 31 pupils sitting at A-level in summer 2018, ten will then head off to some of the most prestigious art courses in the country. Five will do foundation courses at Brighton Met, Kingston University, Bournemouth University and Leeds while five will start degree courses straight away at Edinburgh, Falmouth, Leeds and Westminster.
Director of Art Richard Cuerden said: “We celebrate the individual and their talents and we encourage them to explore those talents to the limit. The result is that the pupils not only produce work that is aesthetically pleasing but also very intelligent.
It has critical context and the pupils learn how to connect the work they are doing with the works of others.”
