Brighton College has a long line of successful professional sportsmen and women as alumni, with the most recent being Marcus Smith who is currently setting the rugby world alight.
Marcus came to collect his A-level results last summer knowing that he had already secured a place in the Harlequins squad. Quick on its heels came the call up from England coach Eddie Jones, who had first spotted Marcus’ potential after bringing down his players for a training camp at the school.
Head of Rugby Nick Buoy spotted Marcus’ potential early on in his school career at Brighton but says what impressed him most about the talented player was his commitment and work ethic.
He said: “Marcus has always been a really great inspiration to others as he knows how to listen and learn and then works hard to put that into practise. He deserves all the early success he has had as he had shown tremendous grace and humility and has worked really hard. When England came to train at Brighton, he seized upon the opportunity to work with England fly-half George Ford. We look forward to watching his success on the pitch for many years to come!”
