Our Great Hall was transformed into a glittering ballroom on Monday evening as five finalist couples competed in our annual Strictly Come Dancing competition. Backed by irresistible beats courtesy of our music pupils, our Lower Sixth pupil dancers put on performances of great skill and dynamism, wowing the audiences and impressing our wonderful panel of judges.
Five couples competed for the trophy, each dancing a different combination of the jive and quickstep across three elements: a duet, a group jive-a-thon and a group quickstep. The quality of each performance left the judges with a very difficult decision to make. Finally, a winner was declared - to much audience applause.
As well as our pupil participants several members of staff took part, and our 'Common Room Dancers' were as fabulous as ever. A special nod must go to the winning couple of Miss Walton and Mr Davies, for their splendid performance.
As well as organising the event, Ms Linkenbagh (Director of Dance) also teamed up with Mr Alvers (Head of Spanish & Italian, Head of PSHE) to compere the evening. As hosts, they moved the proceedings along with great charm and panache.
Congratulations to all involved in this fabulous evening – especially to our five finalist couples, who practised so hard throughout the Hilary term to put on such an entertaining and impressive show.
