Brighton College athletes have been breaking personal bests and county records. Emma Gill (U6) and Will Carey (L5) both ran PBs over 1500m at the world class BMC meeting at Withdean Stadium recently whilst Leo Brewer (U5) followed suit by running a 8:55.88 3000m PB to qualify for the English Schools competition.
Emma followed this up with a bronze medal at the Worthing 10k, breaking the magical 40 minute barrier to come home in 39.22. Meanwhile Jamie Lambert (U6) ran a personal best and achieved a school record of 55.74 over the 400m hurdles at a meet in Oordegem, Belgium.
Elizabeth Korczak (L5) backed up her brilliant sports day performance by throwing two personal bests in the U17 Javelin at a Loughborough meet. Her best effort of 45m 99cm is now the all-time U17 Sussex record and ranks her 66th in the world!
More sporting success was on show at Eton’s Lord Burghley Trophy in the Trinity term - the highest calibre school competition in the south. There were personal best performances from numerous athletes and the day finished in style with the senior 4x400m team breaking the school record to win the last race of the day. Brighton finished ahead of Wellington College, Charterhouse and Marlborough College in fifth, Eton retaining the overall title.
