Remote learning resources
In response to COVID-19, our brilliant teachers have worked hard to adapt our curriculum for online learning. We're fully equipped to make sure pupils still benefit from our innovative approach to education.
With the help of our teachers, we’ve created a list of online resources that pupils can use to stay engaged and informed during their time away from school. They're for curious minds looking to learn something new, and we'll be updating the list regularly with new suggestions sent to us. Visit the resource page here.
A part of society, not apart from it
The College was recently in the headlines for reaching out to the Syrian refugee community in the city, whom we host here each week. One key element of this has been offering 110% bursaries to refugee children, the first of whom secured a scholarship to read Mathematics at Balliol College, Oxford, last year.
Now we are launching the second phase of our multi-million pound Opening Doors scholarship programme, with the offer of 20 additional 110% bursaries to local children who have been displaced as refugees or disadvantaged in any other way.
We have also increased our support for, and funding of, the life-changing London Academy of Excellence (LAE) in the London Borough of Newham for 500 students, most from disadvantaged backgrounds. 39 pupils from the LAE secured Oxbridge offers this year, and we are proud to remain the LAE’s lead school sponsor.
Top co-educational and top boarding school in 2019 and 2020
We are thrilled that The Sunday Times Parent Power 2020 placed Brighton as the highest ranked co-educational school in England in their comprehensive survey of schools’ academic performance.
In fact, Brighton is the highest ranked co-educational school in the history of the publication, and is also the top boarding school in the UK. Read more here.
Life at Brighton College
A culture of kindness
At Brighton College, we focus first on the thing that matters most – personal happiness.
We know young people flourish when they are treated with love, kindness and respect. So we celebrate the uniqueness of every individual, whether that person be shy or confident, sporty, scholarly or both. We want pupils to be true to themselves, happy in their own skins and kind to one another. As The Sunday Times commented in 2019: ‘The currency at Brighton is kindness, pure and simple’.
A love of learning
Everyone’s life can be transformed by an inspirational teacher. And here at Brighton we have inspirational teachers in abundance. Ask any pupil when you visit what makes Brighton special and one of the first things they will say is ‘our amazing teachers’. Their passion, commitment and kindness explains why Brighton College is now one of the highest performing schools in the world.
