GCSE Results

The College takes great pride in recruiting only the very best teachers and consistently achieves the best A-level and GCSE results of any co-educational school in the country.

This year, our Year 11 pupils celebrated record GCSE results, achieving over 1,400 Grade 9s – more than ever before in the College’s history. Grade 9 was the most common grade awarded, accounting for an exceptional 63% of all results. An impressive 66 pupils achieved at least nine Grade 9s, including 50 who secured 10, 11 or 12. Remarkably, one pupil achieved 13 Grade 9s, while another secured an extraordinary 14.

The breadth of pupils’ academic interests was equally impressive, with boys and girls taking GCSEs in 11 different languages. Brighton College pupils also received four awards for achieving the highest marks in the country, including in English Literature. There was particular success in Maths and Science, where 94% of grades were awarded at 9–8.

We are enormously proud of our pupils and all the hard work that went into these exceptional results.

This year, 98% of grades were A*–B, with a huge majority of all grades at either A* or A. Our pupils achieved an extraordinary 380 A*s, shared equally between girls and boys. More than two-thirds of these were awarded in STEM subjects, reflecting the remarkable strength of our pupils across science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Across a stellar year group, individual performances were equally impressive, with 68 pupils achieving three or more A*s, 28 securing four or more, and seven achieving five A*s. Mathematics was a particular strength, with an exceptional 132 A*s awarded in Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Pupils are now preparing to take up places at many of the world’s leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Harvard, Stanford and Yale. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to seeing where their talents, curiosity and ambition take them next.
