Out and About

Sixth Form learning at Brighton College extends far beyond the classroom, with academic, university, cultural, sporting and outreach trips in the UK and around the world, which vary from year to year.

Each year, every Lower Sixth pupil selects an enrichment trip related to the subject they are considering at university, helping them deepen their academic interests and strengthen their applications.

The wider programme includes an annual Lower Sixth visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a six-day tour of leading US universities, Physics at CERN, Classics in Athens, language and humanities trips, international sports tours, music tours and outreach and charitable projects in the UK and overseas.

From academic enrichment to outreach and cultural experiences, Sixth Form trips are designed to broaden pupils’ knowledge, perspectives and ambitions.

At the end of Lower Sixth, every pupil chooses an enrichment trip linked to an area they are considering studying at university. By encountering subjects beyond the A-level curriculum – in different places, institutions and real-world settings – pupils can explore their interests in greater depth, discover new perspectives and make more informed decisions about what they might study next.

These experiences are part of Brighton College’s wider approach to preparing pupils for university and life beyond school, encouraging intellectual curiosity, independence and ambition.

Antarctica 70

In December 2027, 12 Brighton College pupils will travel to the Antarctic Peninsula for Antarctica 70, an expedition inspired by Old Brightonian Sir Vivian Fuchs and his historic first overland crossing of Antarctica.

The journey will inspire learning across the College, connecting pupils with Antarctica through science, geography, art, writing and more.
