Trips

Led by our Director of Global Futures, pupils spend six days exploring leading universities on the US East Coast, including MIT, Yale, NYU, Harvard, Princeton, Swarthmore and Georgetown. They also meet Old Brightonians studying in the US, gaining first-hand insight into university life and the opportunities available beyond the UK.

Every year, the entire Lower Sixth visits the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. The visit gives pupils an opportunity to engage directly with the history of the Holocaust and reflect on prejudice, discrimination and their consequences, reinforcing the importance of treating others with dignity and respect.

Each year, 40 Brighton College physicists visit CERN near Geneva, one of the world’s leading centres for particle physics. Pupils experience the scale of modern scientific research and engineering first-hand, connecting concepts studied at A-level with work at an international research centre.

Our hockey, rugby, netball and football teams take part in pre-season training camps at leading sporting centres across Europe. Recent destinations have included Porto and Gibraltar, giving pupils the opportunity to develop their skills, build team cohesion and prepare for the competitive season ahead.

Sixth Form Classics pupils travel to Athens to encounter the ancient world beyond the classroom. Visits include the Parthenon and ancient Agora, giving pupils the opportunity to explore important archaeological sites first-hand and deepen their understanding of the history, culture and ideas they study.

Pupils take on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. Alongside the considerable physical challenge, the experience calls for teamwork, resilience and determination, while giving pupils the opportunity to raise money for charity.

Each winter, pupils spend a week skiing in the Alps. With time on the slopes throughout the trip, pupils can develop their skiing while enjoying the experience of travelling and spending time together in a spectacular mountain environment.

Brighton College’s senior robotics team travels to Istanbul to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Bringing together engineering, coding, problem-solving and teamwork, the competition gives pupils the opportunity to put their technical skills into practice and test their robot alongside teams from around the world.

Lower Sixth French, Geography and Religious Studies pupils travelled to Marrakesh for an interdisciplinary trip that brought their subjects together in a new setting. Exploring the city and its surroundings allowed pupils to apply their classroom learning while developing a deeper understanding of Morocco’s language, geography, culture and faith.

The Swing Band and Chapel Choir travelled to Lyon for a programme of performances and cultural experiences. Performing for new audiences gives pupils valuable experience as musicians, while time exploring the city makes the tour an opportunity to experience French culture together beyond the College.

Sixth Form Art, German and History pupils spent four days exploring Berlin through the perspectives of their different subjects. The city’s art, language, architecture and complex modern history provided rich opportunities for pupils to connect their A-level studies with the places, collections and events they encountered first-hand.
