Team GBR fencer Keira is celebrating today after achieving an amazing eleven 9s in her GCSEs at Brighton College. And astonishingly, alongside studying for her exams, last year Keira won the British Youth Championships (U16) in Women's Sabre, and is ranked 2nd in the British Cadet Women’s Sabre (U17) and 6th in Junior Women's Sabre (U20).
Keira is overjoyed at her results and how her school have helped her achieve great sporting heights: “Fencing is everything to me, and my school is really understanding and supportive.”
Proud mother Kerstin said: “As a family we have been so impressed and grateful to Brighton College for their partnership, and how they have supported Keira in everything she has done. Everyone there has been amazing, and I honestly don’t think she could have achieved all that she has without the support of the school.”
At 16, Keira has been selected for Team GBR's Cadet Women’s Sabre team and came 7th at the World Championships. She has just returned from the USA where she was invited to attend their Fencing Summer National Championships, and where she finished on the podium in the U20 Junior Competition.
Keira looks forward to competing in the British National Championships in Nottingham next month and has her sights firmly set on competing in the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics.
