Following a brief hiatus, the Prep school returned to the French Alps for their traditional ski trip.
And, well, what a week it was. Sensational views of the snow-covered peaks, silky white as they zoomed down the slopes with smiles as wide as can be. Put prosaically, the pupils had a wonderful time with their friends, learning to ski and sampling the alpine/ski-life culture.
This was the largest group the school had ever taken abroad, and yet it proved to be an advantage as it allowed for an enhanced 'home-away-from-home' atmosphere!
What was perhaps most impressive was how the 118 kind and polite pupils took to the physical and emotional challenge of such an undertaking, particularly as for some, it was their first time away from their parents.
The experiences of being outdoors and active, of learning new skills and developing confidence in challenging terrain, of experiencing a different country (without their parents) will go some of the ways to equipping these children with many of the interpersonal and social tools that will unequivocally help them succeed in later life.
But a huge round of applause should go to the excellent 16 staff members for making all of this possible in a safe and secure manner!
