The children had a wonderful afternoon meeting animals from all over the world. They were introduced to a handful of hissing cockroaches, a giant rabbit and a stick insect from Papa New Guinea with green blood. There were gasps as a rather hairy tarantula scurried across the floor; did you know that in Brazil the native Indians eat tarantulas and apparently they taste like crab. A very brave young lady offered to blow Terry the toad a kiss, just to check he wasn’t really a prince. The highlight of the day was definitely having a cuddle with Rusty the Royal Python.
