Reception children got a taste of canine inspiration when Flo the labradoodle became their art class life model.
Children from the College’s Pre-Prep were treated to a visit from their teacher Nicki Morgan’s pooch because the term’s artwork was themed around pets.
Mrs Morgan said: “To inspire the pupils I share a book called ‘Arlo Wears Glasses’, a lovely picture book about a dog that can’t see very well. I realised that Arlo looks just like my dog Flo so what better way to develop children’s observational drawing skills. We use her as our life model.”
The children enjoyed touching and describing the texture of Flo’s fur and they used their fine line pens to draw where they noticed her fur was curly and wavy lines or fluid marks to show how it changed on her ears and face.”
Mrs Morgan added: “Children who normally lack confidence in art were eagerly joining in and the children who told me beforehand that they were scared of dogs were asking if Flo was coming back next week!”
