Definitely not. We always warmly welcome new pupils joining the Lower Sixth. We have a comprehensive induction programme and numerous social events to ensure that everyone feels included and a part of the College from day one.

16+ A-level results
Our Sixth Form numbers have grown year-on-year, with many pupils coming to the College to ensure their final two years of school produce the results that allow them to realise their university ambitions. In 2023, 97% of our pupils received A*, A or B in their final exams.
Academic life
Our Sixth Form pupils see their academic life as being more than just a focus on their A-level grades. We encourage a deeper love of learning through independent study, reading and research - be it a formal Extended Project Qualification, or an informal presentation to a society of interest.
A curriculum that prepares you for life
All our Lower Sixth pupils initially choose four subjects to study, from 24 options. During the first year of study pupils may opt to discontinue one of these, although some will continue with four subjects for the duration of their Sixth Form. All of our A-level subjects are taught by specialist teachers who have a passion for the topic and who are there to support you as you make your choices for university and beyond.
You will also study our special 'Critical Thinking' course. Unique, and devised by our own staff, this equips you with the skills to construct and critique arguments, as well as considering the development of contemporary British society.”

Entrepreneurship programme
We were the first independent school to include entrepreneurship in the curriculum. Old Brightonians, parents and entrepreneurs contribute to this exciting programme which includes an annual day where they mentor our Sixth Formers. Pupils then create an original product and market it before industry experts in a Dragon's-Den style competition.
Life beyond Brighton
We know that life is only just beginning when you leave school at 18. We arrange information evenings, masterclasses and one-to-one tutorials to support you with whatever journey you decide to take, be it advice on your gap year or mock interviews for your university application. Our Old Brightonians Network provides over 5,000 current and former pupils with an international network of individuals, who can share opportunities and experiences with each other through our social network or at one of our numerous social events we hold both nationally and internationally.
