This May half-term we are excited to present the Brighton College swimming camp, led by Olympian and Director of Swimming Janko Gojkovic. Our camp is aimed at children already at a competitive level of swimming and designed to elevate every aspect of your swimming performance.
In the water, you will refine stroke technique, learn skills to perfect your starts and turns, and master individual medley transitions. Out of the pool, we will keep the momentum going with dynamic workshops on race strategy, dry-land conditioning and expert-led gym sessions.
Join us for a transformative experience that blends skill, strength, and strategy!
A delicious hot lunch will be provided each day, and refreshments will be available throughout the week. If you would like to bring snacks, you are more than welcome, but please note that we are a nut-free school and strictly no nuts are permitted on site.
You can pay by card using our online portal, Flywire, or with childcare vouchers.
As Director of Swimming at Brighton College, Janko is a globally renowned Olympian who built an international career in swimming and coaching alongside his academic leadership roles. As an exchange student at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, he set a 200-yard freestyle record in 1990 that still stands. In addition, he represented Yugoslavia at the 1990 European Junior Championships and the 1991 World Cups.
In 1992, he competed for newly independent Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Barcelona Olympics, and later moved to the UK to swim for the city of Sheffield and study at Sheffield Hallam University. His further accolades include winning the 1993 English National title in 100m butterfly. He then competed in both the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 2000 Sydney Olympics.
After transitioning into coaching, he became Head Coach at Maxwell SC in 1999, set Bosnia & Herzegovina national records in 2001, and helped develop swimmers who went on to break British junior records and compete at the 2012 London Olympics. Whilst Director of Swimming for seven years at Hatfield Swimming Club, multiple swimmers from his programme made GB teams, won European junior medals, set national junior records, and claimed a European open water title. From 2020–2022 he also worked as a Swim England Coach Developer, Tutor and Assessor.
